Canava is a Dubai based womenswear label founded by Damascus born designer Nisreen Krimed. Inspired by her Palestinian roots, Nisreen chose the name 'canava' which was traditionally used by Palestinian women throughout the years referring to the fabric or canvas used as a base for their beautiful embroideries. The brand aims to create pieces for the young and discerning woman. Every item is handmade from start to finish, a collage of memories and material put together to create timeless, original and one of a kind contemporary items that every woman today would love to hold on to. Nisreen, the founder and designer of Canava, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Design and Visual Communication. Prior to establishing Canava, Nisreen held a series of senior positions, firstly as a Design Teacher at Damascus University. After moving to Dubai in 2002 she held the position of Senior Art Director with Intermarkets before joining IMPACT BBDO the leading Regional Marketing Communications Group in the MENA region and then as Design Director with Kemistry Design. Driven by her passion for art and graphics in multiple domains including clothing and fashion, she pursued her studies at ESMOD The French Fashion Institute in Dubai. Nisreen is a wife and mother of two.
